The hotline (1-800-4-A-CHILD) is staffed 24 hours daily with professional crisis counselors who utilize a database of 55,000 resources. This is a valuable resource for survivors, parents, and others. RAINN- Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network is the nation's largest anti-sexual assault organization and one of the best sources of information for survivors of sexual abuse, their families and loved ones. Extensive helpful articles and research, plus phone hotlines. One of "America's 100 Best Charities" -Worth magazine. Lynne highly recommends this website. U.S. Government information on child abuse and neglect, provided by the Department of Health and Human Services, took over the National Clearinghouse website during the Bush administration. There are some useful links, but the website and information are not as helpful as formerly on the Clearinghouse site. You can find information about sexual abuse, by typing "child sexual abuse" in the search box. Hopefully, President Obama's administration will do more to protect children from abuse and neglect and will compile and make available better statistics and information about it. ISPCAN, the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, is a multidisciplinary international organization that brings together a worldwide cross-section of committed professionals to work towards the prevention and treatment of child abuse, neglect and exploitation globally. ISPCAN's site provides information about child abuse around the world, including, articles, studies, and links. (Can also be accessed through the Child Abuse Prevention website above.) Children's Institute International, a private nonprofit organization in Los Angeles, California, for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect includes helpful information and an excellent list of links. The Parenting Project is a nonprofit organization that advocates addressing the problem of child abuse by making parenting information part of the curriculum for all school children. The site contains helpful information. In the United Kingdom, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is a charitable organization in England that has been protecting children from abuse for over 100 years. NSPCC has a helpful web site with publications and research. Let Go, Let Peace Come In intends to bring healing, support, and awareness to the millions of adult childhood sexual abuse survivors and their families worldwide. We plan to enact change within healthcare systems, political systems, and societies by educating through current technologies, integrating published materials with video, audio and Internet media. We will also raise money for a non-profit fund to provide financial assistance to start survivors of childhood sexual abuse on the path to recovery. There are hundreds of web sites with information on child abuse, prevention programs, and other helpful material from public and private organizations in most states and many countries. Check out the Children's Trust Fund site in various states. You can find many other helpful resources by searching the internet, but be careful to verify the legitimacy of websites and their information. Do not ever donate money online without checking with state and federal agencies to be sure the charity is a legal 501 (c) 3 organization. If the charity is not registered with appropriate authorities, your contribution with NOT be tax deductible and the website it is probably a scam
